The Kaduna state government has taken a significant step in reuniting thirty-nine children, previously detained by the Federal Government, with their families. This heartwarming reunion took place at the “Children’s Homes” along Katuru Road in Kaduna, where each child received a generous gift of N100,000 and an Itel A18s smartphone.
Governor Uba Sani has pledged to support these children as they reintegrate into society, emphasizing the need for rehabilitation and empowerment opportunities to enable them to become responsible, law-abiding citizens. Consequently, the governor has instructed the Secretary to the Kaduna State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Muazu Meyere, to collect credentials from those who have completed their tertiary education.
Meanwhile, Meyere revealed that the governor has promised to provide start-up capital for trading, skills training, and employment opportunities to some of the beneficiaries, contingent upon good behavior. Furthermore, the government will closely monitor each child’s conduct and extend these benefits accordingly.
Upon release, each child underwent a comprehensive medical examination and received psycho-social counseling, focusing on personal development and community contribution.
Additionally, religious leaders from both Islamic and Christian communities counseled the children, highlighting the importance of faith and the dangers of negative influences.
Notably, the smartphones were provided to replace those lost during detention, while the N100,000 grant was a gesture of goodwill from Governor Uba Sani.
This initiative demonstrates the Kaduna state government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children and promoting their well-being.
