The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has taken a proactive step by initiating negotiations with Dangote Refinery for the purchase of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol). This move comes ahead of the refinery’s scheduled commencement of petrol supply on September 15, 2024.
Olufemi Soneye, NNPCL’s Spokesperson, revealed that the company is actively engaging with Dangote Refinery to discuss petrol pricing. This disclosure was made in response to claims by Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, that local marketers were boycotting Dangote Refinery’s petrol despite its lower prices.
However, Soneye disputed Edwin’s assertion, stating, “I don’t believe local marketers will boycott PMS with lower prices; that seems unlikely.” Moreover, he emphasized that NNPCL is currently negotiating prices with the refinery.
Meanwhile, Adedapo Segun, Executive Vice President of Downstream, had earlier confirmed that NNPCL would lift Dangote Refinery’s petrol. Furthermore, the President of Dangote Group officially announced the rollout of Dangote Refinery’s petrol in early September.
With supply set to begin on September 15, industry stakeholders actively forecast improved petrol availability and competitive pricing. NNPCL’s proactive negotiations with Dangote Refinery will drive positive change in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
These set of individuals and the government knows what they are doing.
I have lost complete hope in them.
Honestly 😪
