In a bid to spur economic growth in the South East region, former presidential hopeful, Sam Ohuabuna, is rallying South East governors to team up with Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide. Ohuabuna, who heads the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Council of Business Leaders, is on a mission to kickstart the region’s economic engine, and he believes collaboration between governors and Ohanaeze is the key.
Speaking passionately at a recent Igbo leaders’ retreat in Enugu, Ohuabuna emphasized the urgent need for governor and leader involvement in Ohanaeze affairs. He pointed out that this collaboration not only promises to boost economic development but also holds the potential to tackle the growing insecurity plaguing the region.
Ohuabuna laid out Ohanaeze’s ambitious agenda, which includes grooming young entrepreneurs, revitalizing dormant industries, attracting investments, and crafting a comprehensive blueprint for economic prosperity in Alaigbo. These plans, he stressed, require active government participation to create a conducive business environment.
Drawing attention to the grim reality of defunct businesses in Igboland, Ohuabuna challenged the governors to address the root causes. He highlighted issues such as the need for stable procurement systems, secure land tenure, favorable tax regimes, infrastructure development, and enhanced security measures.
“The government’s role in fostering a conducive business environment cannot be overstated,” Ohuabuna asserted. “We need proactive measures to ensure businesses thrive and flourish.”
As the debate on economic revitalization gains momentum, Ohuabuna’s call for government action echoes louder than ever. With Ohanaeze’s ambitious plans and the promise of governor collaboration, the South East region stands poised for a transformative journey towards economic prosperity. Will the governors heed the call? Only time will tell. But one thing is clear: Ohuabuna’s vision for a thriving South East is a call to action that cannot be ignored.
