Recent reports suggest that Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen will likely depart the club by the conclusion of the current season.
Following Denmark’s 2-1 loss to Spain in the UEFA Nations League match on Friday, it has become increasingly clear that Eriksen’s future lies elsewhere.
Notably, renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on his social media handle that negotiations for a contract renewal have not commenced.
Furthermore, Romano emphasized that Rúben Amorim, Sporting CP manager, will play a role in shaping Eriksen’s next move, with his opinion carrying significant weight.
As Romano succinctly stated, “Manchester United are not negotiating a new deal with Christian Eriksen, while Amorim will also consider his opinion, but United expect Eriksen to leave.”
Eriksen, 32, initially joined Manchester United in 2022 on a three-year contract as a free agent.
With no extension on the horizon, it appears that the seasoned midfielder’s tenure at Old Trafford will come to a close after two seasons.
This development marks another significant chapter in Christian Eriksen’s illustrious career, which has included notable stints at Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, and Brentford, as well as his remarkable comeback to football following a cardiac arrest during the 2021 European Championship.
